First Time?
We hope you'll join us this Sunday to see for yourself what we're about. Through contemporary music and practical messages, we present the ageless truths of the Bible in a format that's easy to understand, even if you've never been to church.
Together, we're striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible — a church with relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we'd like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time.
So whether you're a spiritual seeker who's just starting to ask questions about God, or a committed Christian who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at Bay Area Christian Church.
You'll find that this is a place where you really matter — because you matter to God.

What to expect
As we're sure you already know there are many different styles of churches. When you come to Bay Area Christian Church you can expect to feel welcomed and important. Many people who visit our church comment that our church family is friendly and warm. We do our best to make every guest comfortable and feel that they are among friends. Come as you are. Be comfortable. We're interested in you, not your wardrobe.
You can always expect a smile, a hot cup of coffee, and a warm welcome from our church. We hold acceptance as a core value at BACC. We believe that by accepting people of all colors and backgrounds as Christ did, we can build trust. And when trust is created, it leads to influence, and all of this makes our community stronger. When you come to BACC, we hope you find open doors AND open arms.
We partake in Communion every Sunday.
The invitation to join us is offered not by Bay Area Christian Church, but by Christ Himself, to every believer. You do not have to be a "member" of BACC; if you are a follower of Christ, you are encouraged to participate.
Most Sundays, trays with the communion elements will be passed by the servers. Just take the cup and bread and pass the tray on to the person next to you. Once you have the cup & the bread, you are free to take your time in reflection and meditation at your own pace before eating & drinking.
At most services we take an offering. This is an act of worship for our church family. We give because we love God and want to show our appreciation for all He has done for us. We never expect our guests to contribute in the offering unless they feel led to do so. So when the plate is passed, please don't feel that you are obligated to give.
Lastly, we have a well-equipped nursery and loving staff. You can feel comfortable leaving your infant or child in the nursery. When you arrive just ask one of our greeters to direct to the nursery.

Our History
Bay Area Christian Church began with a Thursday night Bible study group that met in the homes of several Christian families in the Clear Lake area. The first morning worship service was held on August 24,1975 with 62 people in attendance. Nine families formed the initial membership. SETEA (South East Texas Evangelizing Association ) and our sister churches in the greater Houston area provided assistance in the form of furnishings, hymnals, and financial support as we prepared for the establishing of regular worship services.
The congregation met for its first five years in rented facilities close to the Johnson Space Center. In 1978 , the congregation purchased 7.5 acres of land on Texas Highway 3, the sight of our present location. BACC members helped construct our sanctuary there. We began worshiping there in November 1980. In 1984 the church family ‘put on their hard hats again’ and helped build the EB1 building (the center for activities, recreation, and knowledge), our second building, which included classrooms, a gymnasium, and a fellowship area. In 2002, BACC became debt free to pave the way for a new Family Life/Worship Center. A large portion of this facility is being financed. Several members of our congregation worked hard on this building as well. We carried on a special tradition begun with the other buildings.
Before the walls went up, our members wrote scriptures on all the supporting wooden frames, roughed in plumbing, the roof, and the floor. Every reachable place was covered with favorite scriptures from God’s Word. All members and children old enough to handle a marker participated in this special event. We wanted the building itself to be “Prayed up and Covered in Scripture” before the walls went on. In April 2004, we moved into our new Worship/Family Life Center located between the other two buildings on our property.
From those initial families that began this church in 1975 we have grown to a membership of almost 400. How grateful we are to God for how He has blessed us!. It is really “His Story” of how God worked through His Son to provide for our needs as we humbly serve Him. To God be the glory; great things He continues to do!
